2009 Mackinaw Island trip

Summer vacation to Mackinaw City/Mackinaw Island, over to Wisconsin and Door County.

Drove up the eastern coast of Lake Michigan to get to Mackinaw City...

After a night in Mackinaw City, we took a ferry over to Mackinaw Island. No auto traffic at all, just horses and bicycles on the island.

Day One

Day Two - rented bicycles and lapped the island three times. Toured the fort as well.

Day Three

Return to mainland - cross the bridge and head off to Sleeping Bear Dunes

We took the SS Badger from Ludington MI across to Manitowoc WI, where we met friends from Appleton and saw Dennis DeYoung perform at the Oshkosh WaterFest park. The band "Those Darn Accordions" were also on hand to open the show.

From Michigan off to Wisconsin. Stayed with friends in Appleton, we traveled to Steven's Point and toured the Point Brewery. Bliss!

The next day we were out with a proper Door County fish boil, although it was rainy and colder the show and dinner was excellent.
